Enterprise Search FAQ
Why is Elastic announcing the EOL of Elastic Enterprise Search?
At Elastic, we’re committed to providing developers with greater flexibility and scalability to build innovative AI-powered search experiences. Since introducing Enterprise Search in 2020, we've gained valuable insights into evolving enterprise needs. To meet these needs, we're deprecating the Enterprise Search product line (including App Search and Workplace Search) in version 9.0 and focusing on Elasticsearch.
We believe enterprise search use cases are best served with Elasticsearch. Elasticsearch, available in Elastic Cloud Serverless, offers autoscaling, advanced relevance, and machine learning via a rich API, providing a scalable, cost-effective solution for enterprise search requirements.
What will happen to my Elastic Enterprise Search deployment on April 15, 2025?
For Elastic customers who currently use our Enterprise Search product line with its included features and functionalities, these products remain available in the latest 8.x versions and will be maintained until January 15, 2027 and supported until July 15, 2027 after the official EOL announcement, according to our EOL policies. The release of the next 9.x major coincides with the EOL announcement.
